Aaron arranged a weekend away to Bath. I didn’t know what we were doing only that we were going to Bath. We arrived at a spa hotel, got ready and went straight downstairs for a massage. After the massage both the therapists left the room for us to get dressed. Aaron came over to me, hugged me then got down on one knee… typical me I laughed and pushed him away thinking he was joking… he wasn’t.
The therapists then came back in with glasses of champagne and took us through to a cute little room with a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us… good job I said yes! Aaron had a hot air balloon booked for the evening but unfortunately the typical British weather meant it was cancelled so instead we went out for a meal and drinks and then came back to our complimentary upgraded suite. It was beautiful.
Why did you choose Polhawn Fort?
We fell in love with Polhawn Fort when looking through photos online, it was immediately on top of our list, we arranged a viewing and when we saw it in real life it blew us away.
The views and grounds are breath taking and the place itself is just so unique.
We didn’t even bother to look anywhere else, we knew Polhawn Fort was the one.
How long did you have to plan your wedding?
3 months!
3 months!
Polhawn Fort had, had a cancellation so we thought why not?!
Did you have a colour scheme/theme?
Mint green was the main colour and then peach and other pastel colours.
First dance/song?
John Legend – Stay with you
How did you feel before you walked down the aisle?
I thought I was going to be physically sick before and as I was walking down the aisle, but when I saw Aaron down the other end it was like there was no one else in the room but us two.
Funniest thing that happened?
We had a carriage made by Tamsyn’s mum and dad which was covered in flowers for one of our flower girls (who was 10 months) to be pulled down the aisle by our page boys who were 2 and 4. As Tamsyn was about to walk down the aisle (with them in front).
They got a bit of stage fright, stood dead still and wouldn’t move!
Everyone was trying to get them to start walking, even the guests. The 2 year old walked off down the aisle on his own and left the 4 year old to pull the cart down on his own… still looked so cute though.
Best tips / advice?
We think at Polhawn Fort because you literally have to hire everything and do everything yourselves you have that worry of how the day is going to flow. That is probably the only thing we worried about but on the day it all just fell into place.
The day/weekend goes by so fast, take a step back and take it all in, enjoy and love every minute because we are so sad it’s all over.
Oh and we would really recommend having a videographer, everybody gets a photographer but we think the video is just as important as the day does turn into a blur and we’re so happy we can now relive it through not only our photos but our video too!
Any amazing suppliers that you’d like to share?
Our photographers David and Mac from
Little Red Book Photography and Charlotte our videographer from Charlotte Dart Photo and Film were amazing! They captured some really beautiful moments and were so friendly we felt so comfortable around them.
